MONEY

According to dictionaries, money is anything that is generally accepted as payment for goods, services and even repayment of debts. Money can buy a person almost anything, handbags, clothes, basic neccessities and many many others. Thus, people can do many things with money.

Money can make people do crazy things. Friendship is important, especially when one is in need. However some people just do not treasure friendship. To them, money is always more important. These people do not treasure the people around them like their bestfriends and family. Why? Money, of course. With money, friendship can turn into betrayal and backstabbing. A person could accept bribes to murder or harm his closest friend or even family.

Some people could also forget their virtues when it comes to money. For example being thrifty, some people love to spend their money like they have all the money in the world. No matter how rich a person is, if he or she do not save money, even if its just a little, he or she could go broke. And once a person makes the mistake, then that person would regret it and want to change. But by the time he or she realises it, it would be too late.

Yes, money can buy many things. But has nobody can buy one's heart. Using money to buy love or friendship can end up in making fake friends or relationships. Those friends would only want money and not help the person when he or she is in need. This, i feel, is worse than having no friends at all.

Thus i can conclude that money can buy a person almost anything in the world but there are certain things that cannot be bought and must be treasured. Money is valued differently with different people and so it is up to each individual to judge on how to spend their money wisely.

Computer Game Addiction

With the advancement of technologies, computer games nowadays seem to be rapidly evolving. With much better visual and sound effects, computer games seem to become more fun and exciting. As a result, it attracts people of different walks of life to play. Teenagers, children, and even adults play them now. However, getting addicted to playing computer games could become a big problem.

Firstly, getting addicted to playing computer games could affect studies. By getting addicted to computer games, more time would be spent playing computer games, so the person would have less time to sleep or study. Having less time to sleep means that the person would become less attentive in class and keeps falling asleep. Thus, grades will fall as a result of not listening in class or having any time at all to study.

Secondly, getting addicted may lead to a neglection of the surrounding world. The person may just get glued onto the computer screen and not meet anyone, including friends. the person may have very little self control over how much time spent on playing the computer game.

So being addicted to computer games has many negative factors. But getting addicted can be aviodable, for example, we can practice time management, controlling only to play for a few hours.

The policeman looked at him in the eyes. "Speak up! Who is your accomplice?" he said, with a hint of asperity. Mary looked away, silent. The policeman, Jack, banged his fists on the table. "I repeat, who is your accomplice in the liquidation of Sally?" Jack said, frustrated.

Jack went out of the room, banging the door behind him. It was useless. She refused to say the name of her accomplice. Jack knew there was someone who helped her, she could not have killed Sally by herself. He had to track that person down.

In the room, tears dropped on to Mary's handcuffs. She had sucessfully made them think that she was culpable and kept her mouth shut so it would preclude anyone else from being suspected. "Its all worth it."She thought.

This was the third time i importuned my sister if she could help me with my homework."For the third time, no!" she replied."You have to do it yourself!". I was doing my homework at the last minute, i had lessons an hour later! Though the questions were quite simple, the time i had left was not propitious. I did not have enough time. Since my sister would not help me, i eventuated in curtailing my answers, giving sloppy work.

I had already surmised that my teacher would scold me. So i was not surprised when i was being called up. I guess last minute work can never be completed on time.

WORDS USED-meticulous, lax, fruitless, obviate, conjecture

Vivian grimaced with pain as the doctor meticulously out on the cast for her. "Why are you so lax to fall into the drain?" scolded her mother. Vivian looked up at her mother. It was only the beginning of the holidays and she had a bad fall. And the doctor had announced that it would take 3 to 4 weeks to recover and because the pain was unbearable so she had to stay in the hospital for a week. "What? That means i have to be bed-ridden for a week?" she complained. "I am feeling fine now. Can i go home then?"she tried to walk to prove to them but she fell again. It was fruitless, she still had to stay in the hospital.

As she conjectured what she could do during the holidays with a fractured leg, she realised that there was nothing much to do. Vivian sighed, obviating any chances of having a fun holiday.

FEATURE ARTICLE

HOBBIES

Stamp collecting, card games, creative and artistic pursuits. All these are examples of hobbies. I guess many have them, right? Hobbies are a unique expression of ourselves and in some ways also a way to interact with the rest of the world. Hobbies, for some people, are the most important part of their life, while others use it as a relaxing escape from stress.

However, there are people who make a living with their hobby. A chef might like cooking as a hobby; or a game tester might enjoy playing and (helping to debug) computer games as hobby. Generally, people who makes a living from what they like to do are usually called amateurs or hobbyists. Many amatuers have made great contributions to this society.

Do you collect things to keep like postage stamps? This hobby of collecting is one of the most common hobbies. It consists of collecting specific items based on one's interests. These collections are very often organized, carefully cataloged and displayed attractively. Since the collection depends on the collector's interests, the collection may deal with almost any subject.

Some may not like collecting but this is only one of the examples of hbbies. Of course there are many more, like playing games. Due to the fact that a wide variety of activities are enjoyable, many many different types of games are created. What creates an enjoyable game? Well, this varies from person to person. Usually, age, understanding of the game, intelligence level, and to some extent, personalities are factors that determine what games a person enjoys.

Its always good to follow a favourite pastime to pass time. Hobbies are usually for personal interests and enjoyment, rather than for financial rewards.
